Gaussian 09W (G09) is a computational chemistry program that runs on any mod-ern Windows 32-bit PC. If you want to install G09 on a 64bit PC, there is a special procedure you must follow: 1.Insert the CD with G09 and copy its content onto you computer. Any folder will do; I copied directly into the:Cndirectory. 2.Open directory containing G09. Description
Gaussian is software for computational chemists. The first version of the program was released in 1970, but over time it became one of the most popular applications in computational chemistry. The program was developed by Professor John Popel and his research team at the University of Mellon. Professor Pople and his students made good use of the capabilities of this software to conduct quantitative research in quantum chemistry and other fields, demonstrating the practical application of this product. Gaussian has many capabilities in modeling electronic structures, the Windows version of this software has the w extension (like 09w) and will also have the extension m for Mac-based PCs. A 32-bit version of the single CPU is also available as a lighter version to researchers with an IM extension such as 09IM. The Gaussian Windows version can run single-processor or multi-processor.

- Licenses for the 32-bit version of Gaussian 09W are available for both single computers and for an unlimited number of computers at a licensed site.
Recommended Minimum System Requirements
- As is the case with all 32-bit Fortran applications, the 32-bit version of the Gaussian 09W is limited to accessing most 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of disk space no matter how much memory is available on the system. The 32-bit multiprocessor version of the G09W is limited to 4 processors (or cores). The 32-bit version of the G09W will run on 64-bit computer systems, albeit with disk and memory restrictions inherent to 32-bit applications.

- The 64-bit version of G09W is not limited to the number of processors (or cores) that can be accessed for parallel parallel computing memory. It doesn’t have the 32-bit addressing limitations that the 32-bit G09W version has, so for all practical purposes, the 64-bit version of the G09W can access an unlimited amount of memory and disk space.

Gaussian '16 is now available on Odyssey. To use it, add the following lines to ~/.bashrc:

Two builds of Gaussian are available: nehalem (older processors) and broadwell (newer processors). The setup script above should auto-detect which version you need.
NBO 6 has been installed as well. To use it, use the pop=nbo6read keyword in your Gaussian input file. Here is an example for water:
