I am new to mac and recently received a MBP as a gift. My operating system is OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks). I apologize if this has been answered numerous times in the forum but I have not been able to find a solution to my problem.

I am trying to install Java for one website that my firm uses for VPN Remote Desktop connections. My colleagues use both Mac's and PC's to connect without a problem through this website. Java is required to run the scripts for our RSA token keys, the script is Array Solutions. Lame for audacity on mac.

I recently tried to connect and was prompted to download the latest version of Java. I believe is was version 8. I downloaded the file and installed without a hitch. I checked my security settings etc. to make sure all was in order.

When I visited the site, I was prompted to accept the user certificate and allowed the site access to Java. It started to work and then I received a pop up window indicating that I need to install the most current version of Java. The strange part is that I have it. Needless to say, I was not able to gain access because my Java isn't working.

Is there a solution to this? Will I need to bring my Mac to my neighborhood store and have one the Geniuses configure my system?
