Microsoft Update For Office 2011 Mac

Microsoft has released Office for Mac 2011 14.4.5 Update with security fixes for a Microsoft Word File Format vulnerability. This update patches one vulnerability (CVE-2014-4117) in Microsoft Office that could allow remote code execution if a specifically crafted file is opened in an affected version of Office. In the Microsoft Office 2011 14.7.7 Update volume window, double-click the Office 2011 14.7.7 Update application to start the update process, and then follow the instructions on the screen. If the installation finishes successfully, you can remove the update installer from your hard disk.

Microsoft has released updates for the Mac versions of its productivity suites Office 2004, Office 2008, and Office 2011. All updates address security issues, as well as the stability, and reliability of the suites.

All users of Microsoft Office for Mac are being told to update. The Redmond giant explains why in security bulletin MS11-045.

For Microsoft Office 2011, the Windows maker provides a more detailed look.

“The Office for Mac 2011 14.1.2 Update contains several changes that improve security, stability, and reliability,” Microsoft says.

The 14.1.2 update for Office for Mac 2011 includes improvements for all of the applications comprising the suite.

Microsoft cannot stress enough that security is a top priority this time around, with the update fixing vulnerabilities in Office 2011 that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer’s memory with malicious code.

The company highlights some of the improvements in Outlook and Word for Mac 2011. Here’s the breakdown for Outlook:

Microsoft Office 2011 Upgrade

Reliability of Free/Busy information is improved · This update fixes an issue that causes incorrect Free/Busy information to be shown in Outlook 2011 when Microsoft Exchange servers are located in the UTC +8 Perth time zone.

Reliability of delegate information is improved

· This update fixes issues that sometimes cause delegate information to be lost when the following conditions are true:· Changes are made to account settings.· User certificates are added or removed.

Users can update by either downloading the standalone Microsoft Office for Mac 14.1.2 installer package, or via the built-in software update mechanism in any of the Office apps running on their Mac.
